It is Still Falling with the darkness taken away. The same teardrops of every colour, the same falling, but lifted off the black ground and set down on open white, where they are not jewels glowing in the dark but simply drops, weightless and free. The original is 17 centimetres square.

I do not really know where the name came from, maybe just the way water keeps moving, a river or rain or tears, always going. This one has no difficult technique and no philosophy behind it. It is a colour study, my whole palette let loose together.

What it gives is calm. The other paintings ask you to look closely, to hunt, to read; this one asks nothing at all. It is nothing and everything, a thing to sit in front of quietly. If your days are loud, it may be the most restful wall in the house.

It is the twin of Prima Materia, the open exhale to that one's deep focus: the same colours, only here they are simply falling.
